The 105 AER is a versatile open-back headphone designed for every musical genre. Its tuning is rich and refined, warm and full-bodied, with a slight emphasis on bass and sub-bass that adds depth and draws you in. The soundstage stays spacious and each instrument keeps its own place.
Its shapes draw on the bold lines of Art Deco. The PVD-coated cast zinc alloy hardware, spring steel headband, PC-ABS ear cups, velour ear pads and soft PU leather headband were all chosen to last. At 336 g, it is Meze Audio's lightest open-back model to date.
The 50 mm dynamic driver pairs a W-shaped dome in carbon fibre-reinforced cellulose composite with a torus in PEEK, a stiff and lightweight semicrystalline polymer. Its grooves, set at a 45.5° angle, reinforce the membrane, and a copper-zinc alloy stabiliser absorbs vibrations to reduce distortion. At 42 Ω and 112 dB SPL/mW at 1 kHz, the headphone is easy to drive from most devices.
The velour ear pads surround the ears and stay softer and more breathable than leather, with no overheating or sweating as the hours go by. The self-adjusting headband spreads the pressure evenly, whatever the shape of the head. The headphones come with a 1.8 m Kevlar-sheathed OFC cable with a 3.5 mm jack, a gold-plated 6.3 mm jack adapter, a cable pouch and a hard EVA case.
