The FiiO M21 is an entry-level Android digital audio player (DAP) that builds on the brand’s line of higher-end models. It combines a 6nm-processed Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 SoC (octa-core up to 2.4 GHz) running Android 13 with a compact 4.7-inch display. Four CS43198 DACs form the core of its audio conversion, delivering performance you wouldn’t expect at this price point.
The four CS43198 chips enable a fully differential 8-channel output that fully harnesses the headphones’ potential. The amplification stage features a two-stage design: the first stage provides voltage amplification, while the second stage handles current amplification. In Super High Gain mode, the M21 delivers up to 950 mW + 950 mW into 32 ohms in balanced mode, with a signal-to-noise ratio exceeding 126 dB.
Desktop mode—a first for an entry-level FiiO portable player—powers the M21 entirely from an external source: the battery is neither charged nor discharged, which preserves its lifespan. In Super High Gain external power mode, the device switches to a high voltage for desktop-level power. Connectivity includes 3.5 mm and 4.4 mm headphone outputs, line-out, coaxial SPDIF, and USB Audio, with two USB-C ports.
A 4,000 mAh battery provides approximately 15 hours of listening time in asymmetric mode, with 20 W PD fast charging. The aluminum alloy chassis features a frosted AG glass back that feels pleasant to the touch. The M21 supports 8x MQA decoding and bidirectional LDAC Bluetooth, and features separate shielding for the digital and analog sections. A protective case is included. The M21 is available in black, blue, and titanium gold.
