The FiiO FD15 is a wired in-ear headphone featuring a single 13.8 mm dynamic driver, and is the successor to the FD5. Its aluminum-magnesium (magnalium) diaphragm, combined with a DLC gasket, remains rigid and resistant to deformation, delivering detailed highs and low distortion. A W-shaped surround increases the effective vibrating area by approximately 30%, while an 8.6 mm voice coil and a 1.5 T external magnet enhance efficiency.
At the front of the transducer, a front acoustic prism corrects slight phase shifts between sound wave paths, ensuring precise control and careful dispersion of the treble. The bass benefits from the Tesla Valve (F.T.B.S.) acoustic design: the length, angle, and number of internal channels are calculated to extend and deepen the bass.
The FD15’s housing is made from medical-grade 316L stainless steel using powder metallurgy, then hand-polished and treated with PVD coating for a mirror finish. The angle of the sound channel has been increased by 6.7°, the MMCX connectors feature a curved design, and the front contact surface has been reduced—all optimizations that improve fit and comfort.
The FD15 comes with a braided cable made of Furukawa monocrystalline copper and silver-plated Furukawa monocrystalline copper, consisting of four strands totaling 480 wires, terminated with extended MMCX connectors and an interchangeable 3.5 / 4.4 mm jack. Two pairs of tuning tips (red for bass, black for treble) allow you to adjust the sound signature. Hi-Res Audio certified, it covers 10 Hz–40 kHz. Available in obsidian black and silver.
