The FiiO FD15 is a wired in-ear monitor with a 13.8 mm dynamic driver with a magnalium diaphragm, a 316L steel shell and a detachable Furukawa MMCX cable.
The FiiO FD15 is a wired in-ear monitor with a single 13.8 mm dynamic driver, successor to the FD5. Its aluminium-magnesium (magnalium) diaphragm combined with a DLC surround stays rigid and resists deformation, for detailed treble and low distortion. A W-shaped surround increases the effective vibrating area by about 30%, while an 8.6 mm voice coil and a 1.5 T external magnet boost efficiency.
At the front of the driver, an acoustic prism corrects slight phase offsets between the paths of the sound waves, for precise control and refined treble dispersion. The bass benefits from the Tesla Valve acoustic design (F.T.B.S.): the length, angle and number of internal channels are calculated to extend and deepen the low end.
The FD15 shell is made of medical-grade 316L stainless steel by powder metallurgy, then hand-polished and PVD-coated for a mirror finish. The sound tube angle has been raised by 6.7°, the MMCX connectors have a curved shape and the front contact surface has been reduced, all optimisations that improve fit and comfort.
The FD15 comes with a braided cable of Furukawa monocrystalline copper and silver-plated Furukawa monocrystalline copper, made of four strands totalling 480 wires, ending in extended MMCX connectors and an interchangeable 3.5 / 4.4 mm plug. Two pairs of tuning tips (red for bass, black for treble) let you adjust the sound signature. Hi-Res Audio certified, it covers 10 Hz - 40 kHz. Available in obsidian black and silver.
