Hybrid configuration: 1 dynamic driver and 2 armatures

The FiiO FW5 is a true wireless in-ear earphone. Each earbud pairs a 10 mm dynamic driver with a DLC diaphragm, in charge of bass and midrange thanks to its N50 neodymium magnets, with two Knowles RAD balanced armatures placed near the ear canal for the treble. This hybrid configuration aims for firm bass and detailed treble.

The FW5 has an independent AKM AK4332 converter from the VELVET SOUND family, with a stated signal-to-noise ratio of 106 dB. Transmission relies on the Qualcomm QCC5141 chip in Bluetooth 5.2, Snapdragon Sound certified, which supports the LHDC and aptX Adaptive codecs in addition to aptX, AAC and SBC.

Battery life and controls

Each earbud holds a 65 mAh battery giving about 7 hours of listening, extended to more than 21 hours with the 380 mAh charging case. Four physical buttons, two per earbud, handle playback and calls without fumbling, and dual connection links two devices at the same time.

IPX4 water resistance and equaliser

A film and dedicated meshes protect the FW5 against water splashes to the IPX4 standard. Two microphones per earbud provide cVc noise reduction for calls. Through the FiiO app, a 10-band parametric equaliser fine-tunes the frequency response, with playback supported up to 192 kHz/24 bits.
