FiiO FW5 true wireless in-ear headphones

Hybrid: 1 dynamic, 2 armatures

The FiiO FW5 is a true wireless in-ear monitor. Each earpiece pairs a 10 mm dynamic driver with a DLC diaphragm, in charge of the bass and the midrange thanks to its N50 neodymium magnets, with two Knowles RAD balanced armatures placed close to the nozzle for the treble. This hybrid configuration aims at controlled bass and detailed treble.

The FW5 carries an independent AKM AK4332 converter from the VELVET SOUND family, with a stated signal-to-noise ratio of 106 dB. Transmission rests on the Qualcomm QCC5141 chip in Bluetooth 5.2, certified Snapdragon Sound, which supports the LHDC and aptX Adaptive codecs alongside aptX, AAC and SBC.

Battery life and controls

Each earpiece holds a 65 mAh battery giving around 7 hours of listening, taken beyond 21 hours with the 380 mAh charging case. Four physical buttons, two per earpiece, handle playback and calls without any uncertain gesture. Dual connection keeps two devices linked at the same time.

IPX4 water resistance and settings of the FiiO FW5

IPX4 rating and equaliser

A dedicated film and meshes protect the FW5 to the IPX4 standard against water splashes. Two microphones per earpiece provide cVc noise reduction for calls. Through the FiiO app, a 10-band parametric equaliser refines the frequency response, with playback supported up to 192 kHz/24-bit.
