Two 0.75-inch tweeters, two 3-inch midrange drivers and a 5.25-inch subwoofer form a 2.1 stereo system in a single cabinet. Five separate Class D amplifiers drive these speakers under the control of a digital sound processor. The AVATON draws on proven technology from the MEISTERSTÜCK (Gen. 2) and adds bass and treble adjustment as well as 3D Sound.
Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, Deezer, Amazon Music and Napster arrive over 2.4/5 GHz Wi-Fi or the LAN port, as do Apple AirPlay, Google Cast and DLNA/UPnP. The radio section covers FM, DAB+, internet radio and podcasts, with 99 favourites across all sources. Bidirectional Bluetooth receives audio from a smartphone and also sends it to wireless headphones.
Connected to a television via HDMI ARC, optical or coaxial, the AVATON takes over from the speakers built into the screen. The rear panel adds USB-A, USB-C with charging and playback, a 3.5 mm aux input and a gold-plated cinch input. At 510 x 262 x 140 mm including antennas, it sits discreetly below the screen.
The 4-inch TFT colour display adjusts its brightness automatically and is framed by direct-access buttons and a knob in solid metal. The new remote control, the sonoro audio app and Smart Home integration complement the controls on the front. The hand-sanded, lacquered wooden cabinet is fitted with a one-piece laser-cut aluminium front that seems to float thanks to a shadow gap.
