Metamaterial absorption

The tweeter radiates as much backwards as forwards. Behind it, a metamaterial disc pierced with channels of differing lengths traps that rear wave and dissipates it as heat: 99% of the high-frequency energy never comes back to the cone. What is left is the signal.

165 mm cone

Where the Q1 works with 130 mm, the Q3 goes up to 165 mm. The bass reaches down to 42 Hz at −6 dB and sensitivity gains a decibel, 87 dB. The cabinet follows: 357 mm tall for 8.2 kg, still a bookshelf speaker but one that starts to make itself seen.

Crossover at 2 kHz

The crossover hands over at 2.0 kHz, a little lower than on the Q1. The tweeter therefore takes the midrange earlier, where the 165 mm cone begins to grow directional. Distortion stays below 1% from 170 Hz to 20 kHz.

15 to 150 W, 4 Ω with a minimum of 3.2 Ω: the Q3 asks for an amplifier that holds the load rather than a powerful one. Its 109 dB maximum output covers an ordinary living room. Three finishes: satin black, satin white, walnut.
