The tweeter radiates as much backwards as forwards. Behind it, a metamaterial disc pierced with channels of differing lengths traps that rear wave and dissipates it as heat: 99% of the high-frequency energy never returns to the cone. What is left is the signal.
A three-way bookshelf speaker stays rare: a dedicated bass driver has to be fitted under the Uni-Q within 422 mm of height. The R3 Meta manages it with a 165 mm cone that does the bass only, cut off at 420 Hz. The midrange keeps the Uni-Q to itself.
38 Hz at −6 dB in a bookshelf cabinet: that is what the dedicated bass driver buys. The band rises as far as 50 kHz, well beyond what is audible, which counts less for the treble than for phase at the top of the spectrum. In the room, the typical bass response reaches down to 30 Hz, still at −6 dB.
422 × 200 × 336 mm for 12.4 kg: the R3 Meta weighs more than an ordinary bookshelf speaker and calls for a stand to match. Nominal impedance of 4 Ω, 3.2 Ω minimum, and 87 dB of sensitivity measured at 2.83 V at one metre. Four finishes: gloss black, gloss white, walnut and Indigo Gloss Special Edition.
