The FiiO KA15, metal body and lit screen

An all-metal dongle

The KA15 fits into 52 x 25 x 11 mm for 21 grams, in a metal body milled, then anodised and polished. An LCD shows the sampling rate in use, and the USB-C cable detaches. A lanyard hole lets you attach a cord.

Two CS43198 converters

Conversion relies on two Cirrus Logic CS43198, one per channel. The 3.5 mm output delivers 290 mW into 16 ohms and 180 mW into 32 ohms; the balanced 4.4 mm output rises to 510 then 560 mW into the same loads. Stated signal-to-noise ratios reach 122 and 123 dB into 32 ohms.

768 kHz and DSD256

The USB-C input accepts up to 768 kHz at 32-bit as well as DSD64, DSD128 and DSD256. The 3.5 mm socket doubles as an SPDIF output, up to 384 kHz. FiiO recommends impedances of 16 to 150 ohms single-ended and 16 to 300 ohms balanced.

A ten-band equaliser

A ten-band parametric equaliser works without loss, with import, export and sharing of curves. Volume adjusts in sixty coarse or one hundred and twenty fine steps. A patented desktop mode raises the available power, and the 3.5 mm socket recognises CTIA in-line controls and their microphone.
