The Mu-so 2nd Generation combines six Focal-optimised drivers and 450 W of amplification, or 6 × 75 W, in a single enclosure. The three-way stereo system uses a vented enclosure tuned by DSP. It succeeds the original Mu-so and was re-engineered by Naim's engineers in Salisbury.
The multicore signal processor provides 2000 MIPS of processing power. A limiter algorithm monitors driver movement and only steps in at extreme volume levels, to preserve clarity and long-term reliability.
The Naim streaming platform plays files up to 32-bit/384 kHz and supports AirPlay 2, Chromecast, Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, Roon Ready, UPnP, internet radio and Bluetooth. TV sound comes in over HDMI ARC with CEC; an optical input up to 96 kHz, a 3.5 mm mini-jack and a USB port complete the connections.
The grey aluminium enclosure has 15 touch-sensitive buttons and an illuminated volume dial, whose proximity sensor wakes the display as you approach. The Focal & Naim app groups up to six Focal & Naim streamers in multiroom, and the speaker integrates with Control4, Crestron, Elan, RTI and Savant home automation systems. It measures 62.8 × 24.6 × 12.2 cm and weighs 11.2 kg.
