The FORUS 4 is the compact bookshelf model in Argon Audio's FORUS series. Its MDF cabinet measures 23.9 cm high, 14.8 cm wide and 18.9 cm deep. It fits on a TV unit, a shelf or a desk without taking over the room. It is sold individually, so a stereo setup needs two.
A 4-inch paper cone woofer is paired with a 0.75-inch soft dome tweeter driven by a neodymium magnet. The crossover splits the signal between them at 2900 Hz. Frequency response runs from 60 Hz to 20 kHz at ± 3 dB.
The FORUS 4 comes in black, white and walnut, three PVC finishes over an MDF cabinet. The lacquered front panel takes front grilles that attach magnetically. Rubber feet are supplied for placing it on furniture.
As a 4 ohm passive speaker, the FORUS 4 needs an external amplifier: Argon Audio recommends 30 to 80 W and matches its SA1 MK2 and SA2 amplifiers to the series. A subwoofer, such as a MALMÖ, connects to the amplifier to extend the bass. A wall mount is built into the back, and the brand suggests placing the speaker 10 to 30 cm from the rear wall. Speaker cables are not included.
