DAB+ and FM-RDS reception

The same reception platform as the DDR-7: DAB+, FM with RDS, station presets. The wire antenna plugs in at the back when the signal is short. What separates the two models comes after the tuner — the second generation was reworked on the amplifier and the connectors.

Bluetooth 5.2 and TWS pairing

Bluetooth moves up to 5.2, with AVRCP controls: play and pause from the set itself. More to the point, the DDR-7X handles TWS — two units pair with each other and split the left and right channels. A pair covers a room in stereo, where the DDR-7 stays a mono set.

Four watts over Bluetooth

The Class D amplifier puts out 2 W on DAB+ and FM, and 4 W over Bluetooth and the AUX input — twice the DDR-7 on those two sources. On battery it holds 3 W instead of 1.6 W. Same 1.5-inch driver into 4 ohms, but more headroom when the source is a phone rather than a radio transmitter.

Battery and USB-C charging

A 3.6 V / 2600 mAh lithium-ion battery, charged over USB-C at 5 V / 2.4 A: the connector changed from the DDR-7's micro-USB, and the same cable carries firmware updates. A key lock freezes the controls once the station is set.
