Four Radio Sources

The R1S receives internet radio, DAB, DAB+ and FM with RDS from 87.5 to 108 MHz. Eight presets can be stored per mode. Spotify Connect, Deezer and Amazon Music are built in, and Bluetooth 5.2 takes over for anything else.

75 mm NS+ Driver

A single 75 mm NS+ full-range driver, developed by Ruark, covers 55 Hz to 20 kHz as a typical in-room response. It sits in a bass-reflex cabinet and runs from a 9 W Class AB amplifier. Bass and treble adjust over plus or minus 6 dB, and a switchable loudness contour compensates for listening at low level.

Colour TFT Display

The colour TFT dims automatically with ambient light, which makes it bearable on a bedside table. Two alarms can be set daily, on weekdays, at weekends or to a custom profile, with snooze and sleep timer. A battery-backed real-time clock keeps the time when the set is unplugged. The Oktiv app mirrors the controls on iOS and Android.

Connections and Updates

The USB-C port delivers 5 V 1 A to charge a phone and plays MP3 files up to 48 kHz 320 kbps from a FAT32-formatted stick. Added to these are a 3.5 mm line input and headphone output, a 75 ohm antenna socket and a Kensington slot. Wi-Fi covers 802.11 b/g/n, and updates arrive over the network or by USB. Consumption: 1.7 W on standby, 3 W in use.
