The output stage is built on a Hypex Class D module delivering 2 x 250 W into 4 ohms. It drives passive speakers from 4 to 16 ohms, from living-room floorstanders to in-ceiling speakers. A fan that only runs when needed draws heat out of the chassis.
Every analogue output is fed by an ESS SABRE digital-to-analogue converter. PureGain, the volume control developed by sonoro, lowers background noise by 20 dB compared with a conventional digital volume control. Bass, treble and balance are adjusted directly, and Advance mode adds a 7-band equaliser with bass management up to a 2.2 setup. The sound signature was tuned with audio expert Rainer Finck.
Two AMPLIFIER units, or one AMPLIFIER and one STREAMER, mount side by side in a 19-inch rack. The 4-inch colour display shows the name of the room it serves, even in standby, so the front panel needs no label. A reboot button on the front restarts the unit without taking it out of the rack. Control runs through the remote, the sonoro audio app or Busch-Jaeger and KNX home automation from Gira or Jung.
Connected to the TV over HDMI ARC with CEC, the amplifier switches on, switches off and follows the volume set with the TV remote. An optical input, an RCA AUX input, a USB-A port and a subwoofer output complete the connections, with binding posts that take the four supplied banana plugs. Over dual-band 802.11ax Wi-Fi or the LAN port, the unit receives Spotify Connect, Qobuz Connect, TIDAL Connect, Amazon Music, Deezer, AirPlay and Google Cast. The wired sonoro multiroom system, announced for the fourth quarter, will link up to 32 of the brand's systems depending on the network.
