The Tuner Box S3 DAB+ joins the S3 line and brings FM, DAB and DAB+ to the hi-fi system, along with internet radio from stations worldwide. It is operated from the front panel or with the supplied remote control. When switched on, it automatically plays the last station heard.
A pair of RCA outputs connects the tuner to the amplifier. Coaxial S/PDIF and optical Toslink digital outputs let an external DAC handle the conversion. The frequency response extends from 20 Hz to 20 kHz.
The remote control gives quick access to saved favourite stations. A built-in equaliser offers ready-made presets or a 5-band adjustment. Internet radio is received over 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi.
On the front, a 6.3 mm jack output allows private listening, driven by a 2 x 75 mW amplifier into 32 ohms. The aluminium case measures 20.6 cm wide, 5.5 cm high and 15.3 cm deep, and weighs 940 g. The 9 V / 2 A DC outboard power supply is included and standby consumption stays below 1 W.
