Eight working modes

The K15 accepts USB, coaxial, optical, a single-ended line input, a balanced input, Bluetooth, network streaming and local playback from a USB stick. A 3.93-inch touchscreen at 240 x 1020 pixels acts as the dashboard. The chassis measures 244.6 x 213 x 66.8 mm and weighs 2100 g.

Two AK4497S converters

Conversion falls to two AK4497S, backed by an X2000 controller, an ESP32-S3 and an XU316 USB stage. Amplification leaves the op-amp alone behind in favour of discrete MJE243G and MJE253G transistors in class AB. Two Accusilicon AS318-L oscillators clock the whole unit.

3000 mW into 32 ohms

Balanced and at ultra gain, the output delivers 3000 mW per channel into 32 ohms and 700 mW into 300 ohms. The single-ended output reaches 1400 mW into 16 and 32 ohms. Five gain levels and accepted impedances of 8 to 350 ohms suit an in-ear as readily as a demanding headphone.

Network, Bluetooth and MQA

Gigabit Ethernet and dual-band Wi-Fi feed the streaming mode, while Bluetooth 5.1 receives over SBC, AAC, aptX, aptX LL, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive and LDAC. The USB input rises to 768 kHz at 32-bit and native DSD512, with full MQA decoding. A ten-band parametric equaliser and an infrared remote round out the unit.
