The Naim network card, linked via LVDS, decodes high-resolution files up to 32-bit/384 kHz as well as DSD128. The DAC clock paces the data flow, which a SHARC DSP oversamples with 40-bit accuracy before the Burr-Brown PCM1791A converter. Gapless playback works with every format.
Qobuz, TIDAL Connect, Spotify Connect, Roon Ready, AirPlay, Chromecast, UPnP and internet radio are supported, along with Bluetooth. The Focal & Naim app for iOS and Android handles playback and wireless updates. Multiroom mode synchronises up to six Naim streamers.
Two TOSLINK optical inputs accept up to 24-bit/96 kHz, the RCA and BNC coaxial inputs up to 24-bit/192 kHz. The analogue output is doubled, on RCA and 5-pin DIN. The network connection runs over 10/100 Ethernet or 802.11ac Wi-Fi, with the antenna built into the heat sink.
An oversized toroidal transformer powers the unit, and its circuit boards are decoupled. A front-panel USB socket adds another source. The chassis measures 43.2 × 30.1 × 7 cm, weighs 6.6 kg and draws 20 W in normal use.
