Transrotor Fat Bob S turntable, three-quarter view

Twelve kilos of platter

The nickname comes from here: the platter weighs twelve kilos. It gives the Fat Bob its inertia, and the rest of the construction follows from that mass rather than the other way round. Aluminium and acrylic share the platter, two materials with offset resonances.

TMD bearing as standard

Transrotor chose to fit the Fat Bob with the TMD bearing from the base version. The magnetic coupling replaces the mechanical link between drive and platter: the motor's irregularities do not cross the gap. The maker expects precision from it, without running noise.

Polished aluminium throughout

The chassis is hand-polished aluminium, as is the record clamp. Transrotor calls the design iconographic and notes that the deck has appeared in several film productions. That is a remark about use more than style: the shape has not moved in years.

Twenty-five kilos, two arms

44 cm wide, 38 deep, 18 high, 25 kg. A second arm is possible, in twelve inches if you want. The deck arrives without arm or cartridge, fitted and aligned in our Geneva workshop.
