This version of the Amplitude16 takes the Dante input card, compatible with AES67. It accepts up to 16 network inputs on two RJ45 sockets, primary and secondary. Its maximum output level, +18 dBu, is matched to the amplifier's input.
The Dante card uses the same digital-to-analogue conversion architecture as the Altitude processors. The signal travels digitally all the way to the amp and is only converted to analogue inside it. Measured at 1 kHz, the conversion achieves -110 dB THD+N, around 0.0003%, and 115 dB of A-weighted dynamic range.
On the power side, nothing changes from the Amplitude16: two 8-channel Class D amplifiers, designed with ICEpower, each with its own power supply. Each channel delivers 200 W into 8 Ω and 400 W into 4 Ω. Bridged in pairs, two channels rise to 800 W into 8 Ω and 1000 W into 4 Ω.
Paired with an AltitudeCI processor, the amp forms a complete audio-over-IP chain in 5 rack units. With a DirectLink connection, port 2 or 3 of the AltitudeCI connects straight to the Dante card, and routing is set up in Dante Controller from a laptop. With audio over IP, sampling is generally limited to 48 kHz.
