The MC 1600 runs as dual mono: each channel has its own fully symmetrical amplifier section. Precision resistors, film capacitors and low-noise operational amplifiers make up the circuit. Keeping the channels apart preserves resolution and holds distortion down.

Detented DIP switches on the underside set gain, impedance, capacitance and the subsonic filter, channel by channel. Every cartridge finds its exact match. The setting is made once, then forgotten.

The power supply section is shielded and kept apart from the audio circuit. That separation keeps mains noise out of the signal path, where a phono stage amplifies voltages in the millivolt range.

The MC 1600 offers balanced XLR inputs and outputs as well as RCA connections, to fit into any analogue system. RGB front illumination is configurable to the installation. The unit measures 300 x 301 x 200 mm at 5 kg and is made in Germany.
