Two 25 mm up-firing drivers bounce part of the Dolby Atmos Music signal off the ceiling. The soundstage gains a vertical dimension above the front stereo pair. Height and width settings adjust the effect to the room.
The Home 400 lines up six drivers, each driven by its own Class D amplifier. Two 114 mm woofers deliver the bass and two 19 mm tweeters the treble. Bass and treble controls fine-tune the sound to where the speaker is placed.
The cabinet is 300 mm wide, 150 mm deep and 219 mm high, and weighs 4.2 kg. The built-in power supply accepts 100 to 240 V, with no external adapter. The microphone switches off at the press of a button, and the Action key calls up the enabled voice assistant. Two finishes are available: Charcoal and Stone.
The Wi-Fi module covers the 2.4, 5 and 6 GHz bands, and AirPlay 2 and Bluetooth complement the HEOS app. The USB-C port plays a music stick or takes an Ethernet adapter, and the 3.5 mm input accepts an analogue source. Two Home 400 units pair in stereo, serve as surround rears for the Denon Home Sound Bar 550 or team up with a HEOS subwoofer.
