The Rialto system pairs two active speakers in a bookshelf format, 26 cm tall, 20.6 cm wide and 23.9 cm deep. They receive music over Wi-Fi, Ethernet or Bluetooth 4.2, and play streams up to 24 bit/192 kHz. An optical link connects the two speakers when the network lacks bandwidth.
Each speaker combines a 13 cm carbon fibre coaxial midrange-tweeter, ringed in brushed aluminium, with a 17 cm HELD woofer. Patented by Cabasse, this woofer works with very long excursion without its voice coil leaving the magnetic field. Three amplifiers per speaker deliver 300 W RMS to the tweeter, 300 W to the midrange and 450 W to the woofer, for 121 dB peak in stereo and a bandwidth of 30 to 27,000 Hz.
The main speaker has a TV input on HDMI eARC, also compatible with ARC and CEC, so the TV remote controls the volume. It adds an S/PDIF optical input, an RCA analogue input and a USB port for playing a stick or a drive. The converter is rated at 768 kHz and 32 bit.
On top of the main speaker, a colour LCD touchscreen ringed by a volume dial shows the cover art being played and gives access to sources and radio stations. A built-in microphone measures the room for Cabasse's patented automatic calibration, which the StreamCONTROL app can then fine-tune. Rialto groups for multiroom with the brand's other connected systems, including The Pearl range.
