Metamaterial absorption

The tweeter radiates as much backwards as forwards. Behind it, a metamaterial disc pierced with channels of differing lengths traps that rear wave and dissipates it as heat: 99% of the high-frequency energy never comes back to the cone. What is left is the signal.

130 mm Uni-Q

The 25 mm tweeter occupies the acoustic centre of the 130 mm aluminium cone: both sources leave from the same point and the image holds off axis. The crossover hands over at 2.1 kHz. The Q1 reaches down to 47 Hz at −6 dB, which a cabinet 302 mm tall does not often deliver.

Format first

302 × 180 × 277 mm for 6.1 kg: the Q1 slips in where a floorstanding speaker will not fit. The bass-reflex loading recovers the extension that the volume does not give. It calls for 10 to 150 W and 4 Ω, with a minimum of 3.2 Ω that demands a stable amplifier.

Grille and finishes

The grille sits on magnets, without the holes that the fixings of old used to leave on the front baffle. Three finishes cover the range: satin black, satin white, walnut. The 86 dB sensitivity and the 108 dB maximum output place the Q1 in a room of normal size, not in a 60 m² lounge.
