Metamaterial absorption

The tweeter radiates as much backwards as forwards. Behind it, a Metamaterial disc pierced with channels of differing lengths traps that rear wave and dissipates it as heat: 99% of the high-frequency energy never returns to the cone. What remains is the signal.

Three-way bookshelf speaker

A three-way bookshelf speaker remains rare: a bass-midrange driver, a midrange and a tweeter all have to fit into 415 mm of height. The Q Concerto manages it by giving the midrange to the Uni-Q and the bass to a dedicated driver, with crossovers at 430 Hz and 2.9 kHz. The midrange no longer shares the cone that makes the bass.

Forty hertz

The bass reaches down to 40 Hz at −6 dB — lower than the Q3 and its 42 Hz, in a cabinet barely larger. The trade-off lies in the sensitivity: 85 dB, the lowest figure in the Q range. It takes 15 to 180 W to drive.

Nine and a half kilos

415 × 210 × 315 mm for 9.5 kg: the Q Concerto weighs more than the Q3 without becoming a floorstanding speaker. The impedance falls to 3.2 Ω at minimum. Maximum output stops at 108 dB, which suits it to seated listening rather than to a party.
