The iPower2 generates a signal identical to the incoming electrical noise but in opposite phase, actively cancelling it. It works like noise-cancelling headphones, applied here to EMI and RFI interference from the mains. The result is a power supply more than ten times quieter than most audiophile models.
The iPower2 comes in 5 V (2.5 A), 9 V (2 A), 12 V (1.8 A) and 15 V (1.2 A) versions, chosen to match the DC input of the device it feeds. It accepts a mains input of 100 to 240 V. Improved components and thicker-gauge wiring reduce noise at both the input and output stages.
Five adapters of different sizes come with the iPower2: 3.5 x 1.35 mm, 4.0 x 1.7 mm, 4.8 x 1.7 mm, 5.5 x 2.1 mm and 5.5 x 2.5 mm. The last one, in white, reverses the polarity for professional devices that need a centre-negative feed. The 5 V version adds two short DC to USB-C and DC to micro-USB cables.
With a noise floor of around 1 µV, the iPower2 is a worthwhile replacement for the stock adapter of a DAC, preamplifier, amplifier or streamer. The unit measures 82 x 43 x 43 mm and weighs 165 g. iFi also recommends pairing it with the DC iPurifier2.
