The Quasar is aimed at listeners starting to explore how the mains affects their audio system. Its live and neutral pairs are truly balanced, so their magnetic fields cancel out. The Ground Zero design shields the central earth conductor from residual magnetism and induced voltages.
The Quasar does without shielding to reduce capacitance, a choice made for high-power amplifiers. The conductors, arranged in a double circular helix and separated by an air dielectric, reject RFI and EMI. Impedance stays constant along the whole length.
The conductors are made of heavy-gauge, continuous-cast OFHC copper. They are embedded in an amorphous, dimensionally stable, moisture-insensitive polymer matrix with a low dielectric constant. Gold-plated copper connectors ensure a reliable, lasting contact.
The Quasar handles a maximum current of 25 A; its plugs are rated for 15 A at 125 V and 10 A at 250 V. It is 1.8 m long, weighs 1.21 kg and operates from 90 to 265 V. It runs from a Schuko plug to an IEC C15 connector, with no Swiss adapter supplied.
