52 mm driver, machined aluminum

At the heart of the HP100 SE is a new 52 mm transducer designed from the ground up: a paper composite cone, a rare-earth alloy magnetic circuit, and a copper-plated aluminum voice coil. Frequency response from 3.5 Hz to 51.5 kHz, distortion less than 0.1% at 100 dB. The drivers are factory-matched to within 0.04 dB.

Detachable cable, three options

The first Grado headphones to offer detachable cables, the HP100 SE connects via a 4-pin mini-XLR connector. The standard cable is a 12-conductor braided cable with a 6.35 mm plug. Balanced 4.4 mm and 4-pin XLR versions are available, as well as a 12-foot length that fits the housing without modification.

Reinforced, stainless steel headband

The HP100 SE’s headband features 50% more padding than previous Grado models. The adjustable stainless steel rod limits the rotation of the ear cups to 105 degrees, reducing wear and tear. The engraved gimbals are made of aluminum alloy; the zinc alloy end caps prevent accidental removal of the stem.

The HP100 SE pays tribute to the 100th anniversary of Joseph Grado, founder of the audiophile headphone market. The housing is machined from space-gray-finished aluminum, with his name engraved on the front. Each unit is hand-assembled in Grado’s workshops in Brooklyn, New York.
