New Parallel Uniforce transducer and SLAM technology

The LCD-5s takes over the LCD-5's architecture: Fluxor magnetic structure, Fazor technology and a nanometre-scale Parallel Uniforce membrane, 90 mm transducer. SLAM technology optimises airflow inside the headphone for greater precision than previous LCD models. The stated frequency range runs from 5 Hz to 50,000 Hz at an impedance of 35 ohms.

The earcups combine tortoiseshell shells with copper accents and a carbon fibre and magnesium headband. The LCD-5s weighs about 475 grams without cable, a moderate weight for an open-back planar magnetic headphone intended for long listening sessions.

Connectors designed for cable replacement

Each earcup takes a Mini-XLR jack, a standard that makes it easy to replace the cable if worn or to switch to a different balanced cable. The supplied cable terminates in a balanced 4-pin XLR plug, provided with 6.35 mm and 3.5 mm adapters. With a sensitivity of 90 dB/1 mW and a maximum input power of 5 W RMS, the LCD-5s remains drivable by a common desktop headphone amplifier.

Aluminium carrying case included

An aluminium carrying case accompanies the headphone to store and move it without risking the grille or the earpads. This makes it a reference headphone both for critical listening at home and for use in a recording or mixing studio.
