Open-back electrostatic headphone Audeze CRBN. Fitted with a carbon nanotube membrane powered at 580V Pro Bias, it delivers a 20 Hz to 40 kHz response for about 300 grams.

The CRBN is an open-back, circumaural electrostatic headphone built around a thin diaphragm whose inner surface integrates carbon nanotubes, a technology patented by Audeze. The charge is spread across the entire surface of the film, which evens out the driving force and reduces distortion. Below 40 Hz, control of housing resonances adds 15 dB of extra output compared with other electrostatic headphones on the market.
The housing combines magnesium, stainless steel and polymer acetate to keep the headphone's weight to 300 grams, excluding the cable. The hand-stitched leather ear pads are deliberately oversized to enclose the ear without pressure points and ensure a good acoustic seal, whatever the head shape.
The CRBN works with 580-volt Pro Bias electrostatic amplifiers on the market, including those from Stax, Woo Audio, Linear Tube Audio, Mjolnir Audio and HeadAmp. Its rated bandwidth spans 20 Hz to 40 kHz, with a sound pressure level above 120 dB and harmonic distortion below 0.1% at 90 dB.
The 2.5-metre cable, made of single-crystal OCC copper, is permanently attached to the headphone and terminates in an aluminium 5-pin Pro Bias connector. This design avoids any signal loss at the earcup connectors and makes the CRBN a headphone built for critical listening on a fixed system.
