The 99 Neo takes the silhouette of the Meze Audio 99 series into a more urban black and silver version. Its textured coal-black ear cups and very soft ear pads wrap around the ears. This closed-back over-ear headphone shuts out the outside world and weighs just 260 g.
Two 40 mm dynamic drivers deliver natural, balanced sound, with less than 0.1% harmonic distortion at 1 kHz. A sensitivity of 103 dB SPL/mW and an impedance of 26 Ω let you listen straight from a smartphone or portable player. The frequency response runs from 15 Hz to 25 kHz.
The self-adjusting headband spreads pressure evenly, whatever the size of your head. It hangs from a manganese spring steel band, while memory foam ear pads covered in PU leather provide the isolation. The 1.5 m Kevlar-sheathed OFC cable has a built-in mic and remote.
The cast zinc alloy hardware has an electroplated coating, and every part of the headphone can be replaced if needed. The cable connects through two 3.5 mm TS jacks, one in each ear cup. A hard EVA case, a cable pouch and a gold-plated 6.3 mm jack adapter come with the headphones.
