The TD 102 A starts and stops playback on its own: the arm sets down at the start of the record and lifts at the end. Its belt drive, run by an electronically regulated DC motor, keeps the motor away from the platter. Speeds of 33 and 45 rpm are selected by button.
The 12-inch die-cast aluminium platter turns under the TP 72 carbon arm, lighter and stiffer than an aluminium tube. Its Audio-Technica AT VM95E cartridge, with an elliptical stylus, arrives mounted and aligned. The deck comes out of the box ready to play.
A built-in MM phono stage switches on or off. On a line input, the TD 102 A connects to an amplifier or active speakers with no phono input. The switch turns it off when the downstream electronics carry their own phono stage.
The TD 102 A ships with a 12 V mains adaptor, acrylic dust cover, RCA cable and manual. The chassis measures 420 x 360 x 141 mm at 5.4 kg, with an anthracite top plate. It comes in gloss black and gloss walnut.
