The Simply 845 sits at the top of Unison Research's integrated tube amplifier range, second only to the Absolute 845. It shares that model's directly heated 845 triodes, known for their durability: two selected tubes, backed by four ECC82/12AU7 that are also hand-picked. The whole circuit works in pure class A.
The output stage uses a single-ended topology and delivers up to 23 W. Bandwidth runs from 20 Hz to 50 kHz (+0 dB, -1 dB at 12 W), with 14 dB of feedback and an output impedance of 6 Ω. Power consumption is 300 VA.
With the preamplifier and the power amplifier in one chassis, the Simply 845 does without an interconnect between the two stages, an expensive link that is never entirely neutral. Four line inputs with an impedance of 47 kΩ / 100 pF take the sources.
The renewed production is more compact: every input and output socket, gold-plated and of a new type, is now grouped at the rear. A tape output and a stereo RCA subwoofer output are also there. The amplifier measures 37 x 26 x 57 cm (W x H x D) and weighs 30.5 kg, with a 2-year warranty and 3 months on the tubes.
