The Black Edition celebrates the Simply Italy with a piano black wooden front panel, a black gun metal finish and updated lettering. The circuit has been revised in the signal path and power management, with particular care given to the ground paths and channel separation. The chassis measures 26 x 40 x 18 cm and weighs 15 kg, and an infrared remote control is supplied.
The two KT77 Gold Lion valves run in pure Class A, in ultralinear mode with a 43% tap, and deliver 10 W into 6 ohms. Electronic biasing monitors the anode current and keeps the operating point stable throughout the valve's life, with no adjustment and no auto-bias. The output transformer, wound in five sections, is designed for maximum power transfer into 6 ohms.
The two ECC82 Gold Lion valves of the input stage run without feedback and are directly coupled to the driver stage, with no coupling capacitor. Along the whole signal path, only two high-quality capacitors remain in series. Global feedback can be set to 4 dB or 3 dB, and the bandwidth extends from 15 Hz to 50 kHz at -1 dB.
The internal DAC3, based on a Sabre ES9018K2M, adds to the three RCA line inputs a USB input handling PCM up to 384 kHz, native DSD up to 256x and DoP up to 128x, plus Toslink and S/PDIF inputs up to 192 kHz. Inputs are switched by micro relays with gold-plated silver contacts, using Return GND technology. An unfiltered subwoofer output keeps the amplifier's tone, and the valves have a 3-month warranty.
