The Quartet implements the Blackbird WTA filter and its four million coefficients. The processing is handled by five Xilinx FPGAs totalling 3,700 processing cores. The unit belongs to the Choral range.
On the digital side, the unit has one galvanically isolated USB-B input, two optical inputs and two BNC inputs. Outputs comprise two dual-BNC outputs up to 768 kHz, one optical output and one S/PDIF output. Two RCA inputs take an analogue source, processed by a built-in Pulse Array converter.
The Quartet consists of two enclosures, the processing electronics and its power supply. The latter is designed to reject high-frequency interference. Each enclosure measures 7.8 cm high, 33.5 cm wide and 15.2 cm deep.
A lossless 108-bit digital equaliser acts on ten bands, with a range of plus or minus 18 dB. Latency is programmable from 10 milliseconds to 3 seconds. Power consumption reaches 130 W in operation and 20 W on standby.
