The Head Box S3 B is a headphone amplifier built around a fully balanced topology. The whole signal path stays balanced whether the source arrives via RCA or XLR, for maximum channel separation and minimal noise. It works with both balanced and single-ended headphones.
The amplifier delivers 480 mW into 8 ohms, 680 mW into 16 ohms, 820 mW into 32 ohms and 320 mW into 300 ohms. The signal-to-noise ratio exceeds 115 dB A-weighted and distortion stays below 0.002% at 1 kHz. Gain is 15 dB on the RCA input and 9 dB on the XLR input.
Balanced headphones connect to the 4.4 mm Pentaconn socket or the 4-pin XLR. Single-ended headphones use the 3.5 mm and 6.3 mm sockets. The minimum headphone impedance is 8 ohms.
The full aluminium enclosure provides mechanical stability and effective shielding. It measures 20.6 cm wide, 5.5 cm high and 15.3 cm deep, weighs 950 g and comes in silver or black. On the back, RCA and XLR inputs and an RCA loop output make it easy to fit into a desktop or living-room system.
