The Sonoro STREAMER is a Hi-Res network streamer for active speakers, an existing hi-fi system or multichannel power amplifiers. Its line, pre, subwoofer, optical and 12 V trigger outputs, with HDMI ARC and an ESS SABRE converter, fit in a chassis designed for 19-inch racks.

Hi-Res streaming source

The STREAMER does not amplify: it adds streaming to active speakers, near-field monitors or an existing analogue hi-fi system. Spotify Connect, Qobuz Connect, TIDAL Connect, Amazon Music and Deezer open straight from the unit, while AirPlay and Google Cast send music to one or several systems. Internet radio, a podcast mode and two-way Bluetooth, which also feeds wireless headphones, complete the sources.

ESS SABRE conversion and PureGain

Each analogue output is served by an ESS SABRE digital-to-analogue converter. PureGain, the volume control designed by sonoro, cuts background noise by 20 dB compared with a conventional digital control, which matters when the STREAMER acts as a preamplifier in front of active speakers. Bass, treble and balance are adjusted directly, and Advance mode adds a 7-band equaliser with bass management up to 2.2. The sound signature was tuned with audio expert Rainer Finck.

Line, pre and trigger outputs

At the back, a line output, a stereo pre-out, a subwoofer output and an optical output feed active speakers, an integrated amplifier or multichannel power amplifiers. The 12 V trigger output switches connected external amplifiers on automatically. On the input side, HDMI ARC with CEC takes the TV sound and lets the TV remote handle power and volume, alongside an optical input, an RCA AUX input and a USB-A port.

19-inch rack format

At 217 mm wide and 80 mm high, two STREAMER units, or one STREAMER and one AMPLIFIER, fit side by side in a 19-inch rack. The 4-inch colour display shows the room name, even in standby, and a reboot button on the front restarts the unit without removing it. Control runs through the remote, the sonoro audio app or Busch-Jaeger and KNX home automation from Gira or Jung. The wired sonoro multiroom system, announced for the fourth quarter, will link up to 32 of the brand's systems depending on the network.
