The RS451 measures 43 x 33.7 x 9.2 cm and weighs 7 kg, so it fits on a desk, a shelf or in a living-room system. Its 8.8-inch IPS touchscreen with 1920 x 480 pixels runs ROSE OS, with TIDAL, Qobuz, Apple Music, Spotify Connect and Roon. The machined volume knob and the infrared remote set the level of both the preamp output and the headphones.
The front panel holds three headphone outputs: balanced 4-pin XLR and 4.4 mm, unbalanced 6.35 mm. A dedicated ES9027PRO converter feeds them, followed by four parallel amplifiers that deliver 2700 mW into 16 Ω balanced and drive headphones beyond 600 Ω. The signal-to-noise ratio reaches 128 dB on XLR and 4.4 mm.
The second ES9027PRO feeds the XLR and RCA preamp output, with a 129 dB signal-to-noise ratio on XLR. Each converter has its own power supply and ground, downstream of a toroidal linear power supply. On the input side, USB-B accepts 768 kHz 32-bit PCM and DSD512, and the HDMI eARC socket takes the television sound.
