The Master Gen 2 carries a top-loading CD mechanism, built both for playback and for ripping discs to the internal storage. The transport is damped and the error correction tuned for audio use. This is the main difference from the DMP-A8 Gen 2, whose entire streaming section it otherwise shares.
Timing rests on an OCXO clock with very low phase noise, synchronised by a phase-locked loop. A 10 MHz BNC input hands the time reference over to an external master clock. Inputs and outputs are fully galvanically isolated, which breaks earth loops with connected equipment.
As on the Gen 2, conversion relies on the AK4499EXEQ paired with the AK4191EXEQ, supporting PCM at 768 kHz and 32 bit as well as DSD512. Preamplification is balanced end to end and volume stays analogue, on an R-2R ladder. The XLR and RCA analogue inputs pass through the unit without being digitised.
Gigabit Ethernet, dual-band Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4 and an SFP fibre port cover the network side, while the HDMI eARC input brings television sound back in. The 8.6-inch touchscreen, the Eversolo Control app and the supplied remote give access to the 20-band parametric equaliser and to Evotune Pro correction. An M.2 NVMe slot takes an SSD up to 8 TB alongside the 64 GB of internal storage. The unit measures 38.8 × 26.5 × 9.9 cm and weighs 6 kg.
