The DMP-A8 Gen 2 pairs the AK4499EXEQ converter with the AK4191EXEQ digital processor, AKM's reference combination. Together they handle PCM up to 768 kHz at 32 bit and native DSD up to DSD512. Linear and digital power supplies are kept separate, and two very low phase-noise oscillators clock the conversion stage.
The preamplifier section is fully balanced and volume control stays in the analogue domain, on an R-2R ladder. The signal is never attenuated by digital truncation, which preserves dynamics at low listening levels. Internal circuits are electrically isolated to lower the noise floor, and the operational amplifiers are OPA1612.
The unit connects over Gigabit Ethernet, dual-band Wi-Fi 6 or Bluetooth 5.4, and carries an SFP port for an optical fibre link, module not included. Inputs cover XLR and RCA on the analogue side, plus USB-B, optical, coaxial and HDMI ARC/eARC on the digital side. Outputs repeat XLR and RCA, joined by a subwoofer output whose crossover is adjustable from 40 to 500 Hz. A 12 V trigger input and output drive the rest of the system.
The aluminium front panel carries an 8.6-inch touchscreen and a volume dial; the Eversolo Control app and the supplied remote offer the same commands from a distance. A 20-band parametric equaliser and Evotune Pro room correction adapt playback to the room. The 64 GB of internal storage holds a local library, extendable with an M.2 NVMe SSD up to 8 TB. The unit measures 38.8 × 26.5 × 8.8 cm and weighs 5.3 kg.
