The RS150B hands conversion to an ESS SABRE ES9038PRO chip and plays native DSD512. Its balanced XLR output delivers 6.5 Vrms, the RCA output 2.2 Vrms. HiFi ROSE quotes a 121 dB signal-to-noise ratio in balanced mode and 0.0002% distortion at 1 kHz. Crosstalk stays below -138 dB from 20 Hz to 20 kHz.
The case is machined from a block of high-purity aluminium, which cuts down on assembled parts and the vibration that comes with them. Inside, a linear power supply limits the noise reaching the circuits. A high-precision femto clock times the conversion. The unit weighs 13 kg and measures 430 x 318 x 124 mm.
The front is taken up by a 14.9-inch HD IPS touch screen, wide enough to show cover art and music videos. ROSE OS gathers TIDAL, Qobuz, Apple Music, RoseTube and internet radio there, and the unit is Roon Ready and DLNA compatible. The Bluetooth remote and the ROSE Connect app for Android and iOS control it from a distance. A full MQA decoder is built in.
On the digital side, the RS150B outputs I2S over DVI and RJ45 sockets, AES/EBU, optical and coaxial, to feed an external DAC. It accepts AES/EBU, optical, coaxial, USB DAC and HDMI ARC from a TV, plus an RCA line input. The HDMI 2.0 output sends 4K video at 60 Hz. Two USB 3.0 ports, a microSD reader and an SSD bay of up to 4 TB hold the library.
