The SOLO turns an amplifier or a pair of active speakers into a streaming system. It supports Apple AirPlay 2, Google Cast, Spotify Connect, Roon Ready and Bluetooth 5.0 with the AAC codec. AirPlay 2 and Chromecast also allow multiroom listening.
An analogue RCA line output, an optical output and a coaxial output let you connect it to an integrated amplifier, active speakers or an external DAC. The analogue output is fed by a 32-bit ESS Sabre converter. The signal-to-noise ratio reaches 120 dB.
The SOLO has no Ethernet socket: its link relies on dual-band 2.4 / 5 GHz AC Wi-Fi with diversity antennas. The internal antennas are placed away from the analogue circuits. A dual-core ARM Cortex A7 processor handles streaming and an ARM Cortex M33 handles audio processing.
The case measures 14.7 cm wide, 15 cm deep and 3.6 cm high, and weighs 0.63 kg. It switches on and goes to standby automatically, drawing 2.1 W in use and less than 0.5 W in standby. The 5 V / 1 A USB power supply and its cable are included.
