Contrast between matt black POM and polished aluminium

Two materials, two resonances

The chassis pairs POM with hand-polished aluminium. The two materials have entirely different natural resonances, so no vibration can settle in and build. The contrast between matt black and bright polish is the visible consequence of an acoustic choice.

POM platter weighted with aluminium masses

Five weights in the platter

The platter is POM, weighted with five aluminium masses. Inertia therefore sits away from the spindle, where it steadies rotation best. Transrotor puts the measured figures at the edge of what can be detected, and the detail only shows on the platter's first turn.

Thirty kilos, 46 by 34

The deck measures 46 cm wide, 34 deep, 22 high, and weighs 30 kg. Those are the Dark Star Reference's dimensions, on a different construction. Plan a stable support and room for the motor, which stands beside it.

A possible upgrade

The Silver Shadow can be upgraded to the Reference version of the same model. The initial outlay is therefore not a ceiling. It ships without arm or cartridge; fitting and alignment are done in our Geneva workshop.
