Transrotor Orion Reference set with TRA 9 arm

Arm and cartridge added

This set completes the Orion Reference with a TRA 9 arm and an MC Figaro cartridge. The Konstant FMD supply is not an extra: it belongs to the Free Magnet Drive and ships with the deck. The set therefore bears on the pickup side alone.

Magnetic drive block under the platter

The Free Magnet Drive

In the Free Magnet Drive, the belt does not drive the platter itself but an intermediate disc, linked to the platter by magnets alone. There is therefore no continuous mechanical path between motor and record. The Konstant FMD was developed for this drive in particular.

TRA 9 arm on its rest

The TRA 9 arm

The TRA 9's height is set by two screws lifting the arm parallel to itself, without tilting the tube or shifting azimuth. Magnetic antiskating adjusts through a fine thread, with a central mark at 1.8 grams. The arm comes in 232.8 and 308.2 mm; the deck takes two arms.

Thick aluminium platter and two-level chassis

Forty kilos, MC input

52 cm square, 30 high, 40 kg, solid aluminium platter eight centimetres thick. The MC Figaro calls for an MC phono input or a step-up transformer, with loading chosen for it. Fitting, alignment and setup are done in our Geneva workshop before shipping.
