Transrotor Massimo Nero set with RB880 arm

RB880 and MC Cantare

This SET 2 fits the Massimo Nero with a Rega RB880 arm and an MC Cantare cartridge. Against the SET 1, the arm gains a CAD-designed tube and a lightened vertical bearing, and the cartridge moves to moving coil. The black Konstant EINS supply is already part of the deck.

Loading an MC cartridge

The MC Cantare is a moving-coil cartridge: its coils are lighter than an MM's magnet, but its output level is far lower. It needs an MC phono input, or a step-up transformer ahead of an MM input, with a matched loading impedance. That setting is made with the rest.

Mass and magnets

The Massimo Nero combines high mass with the magnetic TMD bearing, instead of choosing between the two. Three pairs of magnets pass rotation between the bearing's halves, with no mechanical contact. POM and steel chassis, POM platter, steel clamp.

Thirty-four kilos

45 cm wide, 40 deep, 23 high, 34 kg. The continuously adjustable arm base takes up to four arms, and the drive can take a second motor. Cartridge loading, tracking force, antiskating and speed are set at our Geneva workshop.
