A Transrotor arm

This SET 3 leaves the Rega arms for a TRA 9, Transrotor's own. Height is set there by two screws lifting the arm in parallel, without tilting the tube or shifting azimuth. Antiskating is magnetic, adjusted through a fine thread, central mark at 1.8 grams.

The MC Merlo Reference

The cartridge is an MC Merlo Reference, moving-coil. Moving coils are lighter than an MM's magnet, which lightens the part that follows the groove. The lower output calls for an MC phono input, or a step-up transformer upstream.

No separate supply

This set carries no Konstant supply: the motor runs on its standard control, as on the SET 1. The budget went into the arm and the cartridge. Adding a Konstant Eins or a Reference stays possible later, with nothing else to replace.

POM clamp and setup

The clamp is POM, the material of the six-centimetre platter. The deck is 46 by 34 cm, 17 high, 24 kg. A badly loaded MC loses most of what it brings: full setup, loading included, is done in our Geneva workshop.
