Transrotor Dark Star set with arm and cartridge

Three parts, not four

This set brings together the Dark Star deck, a Rega RB330 arm, an MM Uccello cartridge and a POM record clamp. There is no separate Konstant supply: the motor runs on its standard control. This is the range's first step, and the power supply remains the most obvious upgrade afterwards.

A clamp matching the platter

The record clamp is POM, the same material as the six-centimetre platter it sits on. Two parts of the same material do not bounce energy back at each other across their interface, unlike a metal clamp on plastic. That is the reason for the choice, not a matter of visual matching.

The Rega RB330 arm

The RB330 comes from a 3D CAD and CAM design, with a revised bearing housing and a mass distribution that moves the tube's resonances aside. Mounting distance 222 mm, effective length 236.5 mm, effective mass around eleven grams. The arm clip is built into the body.

Twenty-four kilos, set up

The deck measures 46 cm by 34, 17 high, and weighs 24 kg. The Uccello being a moving-magnet cartridge, it goes into any MM phono input with no extra stage. Tracking force, antiskating and speed are set in our Geneva workshop before shipping.
