The TD 1600 TP 160 carries the suspended sub-chassis that made Thorens a legend: three conical springs, mounted directly on the base, isolate the platter and arm from outside vibration. A tensioned steel wire curbs the lateral motion of the suspended chassis. A wooden plinth completes this decoupled assembly.

The TP 160 arm, designed by Helmut Thiele, is a 9-inch J-shape with an SME connector. Its knife-edge bearing, stabilised by magnets, tracks the groove with high precision. The SME headshell detaches to change cartridge and tune the deck to your listening.

An electronically controlled synchronous motor turns the two-part machined aluminium platter through a polished belt with adjustable tension. The external TPN 1600 linear supply, with a toroidal transformer, delivers 2 x 16 V and holds a very steady speed.

On the rear, balanced XLR outputs sit beside the RCA. With a moving-coil (MC) cartridge, the True Balanced link gives a clean signal path, free of interference. The chassis measures 454 x 369 x 180 mm at 11 kg, in gloss black or gloss walnut.
