The C 268 uses a customised version of the Hypex UcD output stage, NAD's HybridDigital platform. It delivers 80 W per channel continuous into 8 and 4 ohms, with very low noise and distortion across the audible band. Dynamic power reaches 120 W into 8 ohms, 200 W into 4 ohms and 250 W into 2 ohms.
Balanced XLR and single-ended RCA inputs connect the C 268 to a preamplifier, processor or DAC. An input level control matches it to the other components, for example when bi-amping. A line output lets you add another amplifier on the same channel for extra speakers or a subwoofer.
A switch turns the C 268 into a bridged monoblock delivering 300 W continuous into 8 ohms. This mode suits more demanding speakers or pairing with a compatible NAD component such as the C 379. Auto turn-on with adjustable threshold, 12 V triggers and a ground lug make integration into a complete system easier.
The high-efficiency switch-mode power supply provides nearly 200 W continuous and over 500 W peak for musical transients. NAD's asymmetrical PowerDrive circuit makes use of this reserve, and the supply accepts any mains voltage from 100 to 240 V. It delivers stable voltage to every stage, a quiet foundation for the amplifier.
