The Amp Box RS2 uses Pro-Ject's reference design for its high-end power amplifiers. Its fully discrete class AB circuit combines fidelity, low distortion and good efficiency. It delivers 2 x 130 W into 4 ohms and 2 x 80 W into 8 ohms, with 2 x 160 W peak.
Like the other RS units, the Amp Box RS2 uses a tube buffer at its input. It accepts one balanced XLR pair and one RCA pair, with 27 dB of gain. Signal-to-noise ratio reaches 100 dBV A-weighted, and distortion stays below 0.08% at 20 W into 4 ohms.
The amplifier works in stereo or switches to bridge mode to become a 280 W mono block into 8 ohms, 350 W peak. The gold-plated terminals accept 4 mm banana plugs, spades or bare wire. An RS232 port allows control within an installation.
The all-metal case also plays a part in dissipating heat. It measures 20.6 x 8.5 x 20 cm and weighs 2.66 kg, in black or silver. The Power Box RS2 Amp linear power supply, sold separately, adds up to 25% more power.
