New circuit board

The Amp Box S3 gets a new circuit board and a revised topology, with lower distortion and a better signal-to-noise ratio. Pro-Ject voiced this amplifier to come as close as possible to the character of a tube amplifier. Distortion stays below 0.02% at 10 W into 4 ohms.

Power and inputs

The unit delivers 2 x 23 W into 8 ohms and 2 x 40 W into 4 ohms, with 2 x 50 W peak. One pair of 25 kohm RCA inputs takes the signal from a preamp or streamer. The terminals accept 4 mm banana plugs, spades, pins or bare wire.

Many applications

Pro-Ject intends it for rooms of 10 to 15 m², desktop nearfield speakers or a streamer upgrade. It can also serve in multiroom, home cinema or with in-wall and ceiling speakers. The 12 V trigger input and output provides automatic switching on.

Compact metal case

The metal case protects against vibration and interference. It measures 10.3 x 3.6 x 11.8 cm and weighs 385 g, without the 20 V universal outboard power supply. The Amp Box S3 is designed and produced in Europe, in black or silver.
